Neighbor Mends US Flags

A neighbor "has offered to help residents with mending their American flags that may have gotten a bit ragged over the last year or so," writes the KPVillas President. "If the ends are frayed, she may be able to mend them for you to make them look a lot better."

See the email from May 22, 2023, which continues, she "has worked on flags that fly over the Niles Court House that are 5 X 7 feet as well as ones in our neighborhood in the past, so she has a lot of experience in successfully restoring flags to better form. She’s happy to assist everyone in our neighborhood with this for no charge. Just give her a ring to discuss how she might be able to assist you if your flag could use some restoration services."

If your flag is beyond repair, the US Dept. of Defense describes respectful ways for retiring the flag. While US Flag Code does not specifically state how an unserviceable flag should be disposed, the American Legion has been a leader of respectful ceremonies on Flag Day, recognized as June 14.
